The GREA represents over 1700 teachers and other professionals who work for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. We are affiliated with the Michigan Education Association and the National Education Association.

EACH BUILDING OR PROGRAM HAS A REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY (RA) DELEGATE WHO IS YOUR CONTACT FOR RECEIVING INFORMATION FROM GREA. Your RA attends a monthly meeting called the Representative Assembly on the Third Tuesday of each month. Your RA Delegate should hold a brief meeting to describe what's happening in GREA. Questions or concerns should always be brought first to your association representative.

In addition, we have officers and an Executive Board elected by the membership to make association decisions. Your Association President, Paul Helder, is released full time to represent you and is available at 957-4732. He is assisted by a full time Secretary.

The GREA office (3205 Eaglecrest Dr NE, off East Beltline just north of Leonard) is staffed by three professional staff (called "UniServ Directors") who negotiate the master agreement, provide grievance representation, assist in public relations, and help with other problems. The UniServ Directors are fully-trained, experienced labor relations representatives who assist members who are experiencing employment-related difficulties. They are assisted by two full-time UniServ Assistants.
